Samantha Bass
Driven by her deep fascination with hidden realms, Samantha Bass has photographed farms and slaughterhouses, natural wonders and underwater worlds, mycelium networks and sporing mushrooms.

Samantha’s clear-eyed curiosity has shaped her singular course as a conservationist and visual artist.

After photographing for the Star Ledger, completing her MFA at Yale, and exhibiting her animal production work in several group shows, Samantha shifted her focus to prioritize parenthood and protecting the planet. She began photographing nature and wildlife—both on land and underwater—while considering what it means to raise the next generation of conservationists.
As a board member of Conservation International, and through her exposure to leading scientists and conservationists, Samantha has gained a rarefied look into field projects and innovative solutions. Conservation International’s mission is to protect nature for people, empowering societies through science, partnerships, and field work to care for our oceans, climate, and biodiversity.

Informed by her background in photojournalism and her love of the natural world, Samantha’s work bridges the realms of art and activism. Drawing on her multidisciplinary skill set, she channels her awe of nature and reverence for animals directly into her photography and video projects.
